This is quite a funny thing and we might have the experience of it in day to day shopping. Shopping cart abandonment is that process where a customer chooses an item intended to purchase it and add it into the shopping cart but then the deal never going to be finalized. For the customer it may not be harmful but if you are an e-commerce shopper, you are likely to loose your revenue.

Almost many online store experience the shopping cart abandonment up to 68%, that means more than three quarters of their customer who shops online never finalize their payment after selecting certain items for purchasing and adding them into the shopping cart. As this will cost you in your revenue, you need to lower the impact of shopping cart abandonment on your business. As usual in order to solve it first you should know, what the reasons behind such problem are. There are multitudes of problems for which people abandon their carts.

a. One of the most common problems is too much of shipping charge which the customer could not know until checkout. This quite true for products that are low priced. To avoid such problem, first you let know your customer what shipping charges they are going to pay. If possible place your final shipping charges on the product pages.

b. Sometimes your customers frequently change their minds and drop the idea of purchasing. In such cases you could do nothing except minimizing chances which distract the customer minds. Remove all unnecessary links in the check out process that take away customer away from it. You can also remove site navigation during such process.

c. The popularity of shopping comparison sites is increasing all the time and you can solve this by two ways. The first way is to become the cheapest in comparison sites and this is not possible always. On the other hand you can explain your customers why your items cost more and remain honest to show them you have nothing to hide. It is nothing but gain their confidence.

d. Make sure you give your customers all the cost of products which they choose for purchasing. You can simply place it at the top right of the shopping page.

e. You can add another option on your shopping page such as saving item for purchasing later. This will allow customers to save their carts to use it later.

f. Long checkout process also one of the reason why customers avoid purchasing online. To make it short, don’t ask customers’ unnecessary information like their postal addresses time and again.

g. Always update your webpage to make sure there is no item of which there are no stocks. You can inform about this on the product listings or on the product page itself.

h. For customers there is no more frustrating when your site takes more time for navigation. So make sure they will get a fastest loading page.

i. Ensure that your product contains much information and also detailed information about your company and its contact address. It will make your customers sure that they can contact you whenever required.

j. In your web page mention clearly about the delivery times to assure them they get fast services.
